Amazon Instant Video Adds Cellular and HD Streaming for iOS

Amazon is finally adding the much needed feature for its Instant Video app for iOS. Starting today, the updated (version 3) app will allow users to stream movies and TV shows in HD and on cellular connection.

When you update the app to version 3.0 (or download the app if you don't already have it), you'll be able to stream HD content on WiFi, as usual, but also over a cellular connection.

The update will also allow users to stream and cast content to an Apple TV via AirPlay.

The "Best" setting should probably be reserved for those of you with unlimited data plans; Amazon says streaming at that quality level for an hour will use up 5.8 gigabytes of data, which is enough to totally devastate most tiered plans. Moving down to Better (1.8GB per hour) and Good (0.6GB) is a bit more reasonable if you've got hard limits on data usage, The Verge noted.

The app, also adds settings to control users' mobile data usage and download quality.
