Google Launches New Chrome Extension To Prevent Phishing

Google is launching a new Chrome extension to prevent you from recycling Google password on other sites. The extension called Password Alert is available in the Chrome Web Store.

The extension's job is to alert you whenever you enter your Gmail or Google for Work password into anywhere other than accounts.google.com.

Password Alert also tries to detect fake Google sign-in pages to alert you before you've typed in your password. To do so, Password Alert checks the HTML of each page you visit to see if it's impersonating a Google sign-in page.

Google has open-sourced this tool to help developers in bringing it other browsers as well.
