Watch Earth and Mars Closest Encounter in 11 Years

Mars and Earth are at their closest encounter in more than a decade with only 47 million miles separating the two planets. The closest recorded encounter in the last 60, 000 years was in 2003 when the two cosmic buddies are only 35 million miles apart.
