Celebrity film couple Greg Wise and Emma Thompson have decided to stop paying their taxes until the people involved in the HSBC scandal are sent to prison. Wise minced no words when he spoke of his disgust with the global bank, which has been accused of helping thousands of clients to illegally move cash out the country.

Wise said, "I want to stop paying tax, until everyone pays tax. I have actively loved paying tax, because I am a profound f*****g socialist and I believe we are all in it together. But I am disgusted with HMRC. I am disgusted with HSBC. And I'm not paying a penny more until those evil bastards go to prison."

Robert Wise who has been busy with rehearsals for 'Kill Me Now' - his first play in over 17 years spoke about how his wife Emma Watson was also on board with his decision. He added, "Em's on board. She agrees. We're going to get a load of us together. A movement. They can't send everyone to prison. But we'll go to prison if necessary. I mean it. It's going to be like 1848 all over again."

The HSBC scandal has occupied prime time news in the UK after leading papers like the Guardian and other major news outlets released details of over 100,000 accounts in which, the bank stands accused of helping clients to move illegally funds offshore. Government bodies like the HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs) came under fire for not properly investigating the scandal especially when you consider that the bank is headquartered in the UK.

While the agency managed to find over 1000 tax defaulters in a list of 7000 HSBC Suisse clients, only one person has so far been prosecuted. HSBC head Stuart Gulliver made a public apology on Monday and has been summoned to appear before the Treasury Committee. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to the scandal with the country gearing up for general elections in May.
