Charlie Sheen offered $1 000 to a waiter who was given a 20 cent tip by NFL star LeSean McCoy.

Sheen's generous gesture comes after news that that Rob Knelly,  a waiter at a restaurant in Philadelphia was given 20 cents tip by Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, reports Daily News .

McCoy, who signed a $45 million contract with Eagles in 2012 , had a $61.56 meal at the PYT restaurant in Philadelphia. He later gave a tip of 20 cents to Rob Knelly, the waiter who served him.

However, restaurant owner Tommy Up did not let the matter rest there. He posted a photo of the bill on the establishment's Facebook page.

In a message accompanying the image, Up wrote: "The twenty cent tip that the Eagles' LeSean McCoy just left our server on his $60 check is going to come in really handy for that new official NFL McCoy jersey he had his heart set on.

"That is a .03% tip. New record! " he wrote, reports CNN.

It was then that the "Anger Management" star came to know about the incident and took to his Twitter account to offer the amount.

Charlie tweeted: "dear Tommy Up at PYT in Philly. Please tell Rob K I'm pledging 1000 dollars to him for the tip debacle just wanna help. c #No Judgement "

Seeing Sheen's generous gesture, Up again posted on Facebook that Charlie Sheen was an American hero and a gentleman.

Meanwhile, Rob Kelly, the waiter who served McCoy said that he and his friends were rude and made derogatory comments when they were in the restaurant, reports CNN.
