Fans are still waiting for Kendrick Lamar and his record label, TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) to announce a release date for Lamar's newest album. Despite the hype and excitement for the highly anticipated album, not much is known about the album, which does not have an album cover or title.

Fans were able to get a glimpse of what they might expect in the album when the Grammy award winning rapper released "The Blacker the Berry" earlier this month. The single features heavy topics such as racism, hypocrisy and police violence, which have led fans to wonder if his entire new album will be as dark as the song.

"The Blacker the Berry" has been described as the opposite of Lamar's previous hit single, "i," which won the Grammy award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. The song, which starts off with the line, "I'm the biggest hypocrite of 2015," touches the themes of self-awareness.

The Oswegonian wrote: "The lyrical aspect of this song stands out the most because it's been a long time since a rapper has decided to tackle the topic of racial injustice and stereotypes in their music. "The Blacker the Berry" is a representation of why the genre of hip hop was started in the first place, as it demands listeners to pay attention to its meaning so they too can be aware of the issues."

Until Lamar drops another single or release the album, fans will not know for sure how different this album will be from his previous one, "good kid, m.A.A.d city." Fans will hopefully get a sneak peak of the album during one of Lamar's upcoming music festivals.

Lamar will be headed to the 2015 Sasquatch! Festival that will be taking place over Memorial Day Weekend at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Washington. Lamar was also named one of the co-headliners for the UK Wireless Festival, which takes place in London from July 3 - 5. Lamar will co-headline on July 4 with Avicii.

Lamar was also listed as one of the performers for the three-day 2015 Essence festival, which opens on July 2. That festival will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
