American athlete, Lance Armstrong released a recent statement saying that he and not his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, is personally involved in the car crash that happened last December.

According to E! Online, Armstrong pleaded guilty on careless driving on February 13 thus sparing his girlfriend from disgrace and putting an end to the case which is filed at the Pitikin County Court.

His statement, however, which puts him under second-degree traffic offense that leads him to be fined with $283. The fine will also spare him from staying behind prison bars.

Way back December, the cyclist and his girlfriend Aspen drove their car to attend a party. On their way, their car crashed two parked cars. Further, the couple also stealthily left the car crash scene, TMZ said.

In initial police investigation, Anna admitted that she is behind the wheels as Lance is said to be too drunk to drive.

In another interview with E! News, Anna also said that their car skidded in a 'snowy corner' thus hitting the other two cars.

Meanwhile, Lance Armstrong is currently facing another offense for lying under oath in 2005 amidst allegations that he is using performance-enhancing drugs while joining a cycling competition, reports from USA Today said.

The arbitration panel in Texas imposed that he should pay $10 Million for perjury. The said amount is said to be the largest so far in American judicial history.

The panel's decision is made because of Armstrong and Tailwind Sports' (the company that managed his sports career) "wrongful conduct to lie to the panel throughout the final hearing even while admitting to prior falsehoods."

Armstrong's attorney, Tim Herman, on the other hand, said that the fine is unprecedented and that he and his client will fight in court to have the decision changed.
