The NBA 2K16 game, which was confirmed by several teams' Twitter accounts in mid January, will not be launched for several months. According to reports, the game will most likely be released closer to the end of 2015. Rumors state that the date should be around October.

The tweets, however, gave fans a sneak peak of what and who they can expect. The Miami Heat tweeted several shots of players getting their full body scans on Jan. 16 The picture was accompanied with the caption: "Today the players dropped by #pixelgunstudio to have their body scans done for #NBA2K16!"

The Brooklyn Nets tweeted several pictures of NBA players also getting full body scans on Jan. 20. Their tweet caption read: "First order of business in California: Image scans for #NBA2K16."

So far, the Heat and the Nets are the only two teams that have been invited for these types of scans. However, more teams are expected to join in on the process of making the 16th edition of the game. On top of the players, a dancer for the Los Angeles Clippers, Natalie Tenerelli revealed via twitter that she also had a full body scan.

"In the run up, unlike the current game, 'NBA 2K15,' where NBA players got only their face scanned, the NBA 2K16 will cover more ground as it will include the fully scanned body and not just their faces," an International Business Times report wrote.

"NBA 2K" is a series of basketball video games that were first developed by Sega Dreamcast before 2K Sports took over. Since 1999, there has been a game released every single year.

Despite the drastic improvement of adding full body scans, fans are hoping that the production process will factor in their feedback. For 2K's other fame, "WWE 2K16," the manufacturers asked fans for their opinions on how the game can be improved. "WWE 2K15" opened last year to mixed reviews.

The newest game is expected to come out to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.
