Uma Thurman's appearance in the red carpet in promoting NBC's upcoming mini-series, "The Slap"

February 9 had aroused suspicions that the Killbill actress has gone plastic surgery operations.

However, US Magazine reported that the actress spoke about it on The Today Show with host Savannah Guthrie saying that the effect has been the workings of her makeup artist,

I know I look weird!"I don't know, I guess nobody liked my makeup," she answered with a laugh.

The news source talked to Troy Surrat, Uma Thurman's makeup artist to confirm whether the actress' statement is true.

"We experimented with the makeup. We did a much stronger brow and a bold lip for a French sort of feel. The way I shaded her eyebrows with the pencil, I created an uplifting effect. Then, I finished with a shimmering, silky-beige shadow on her lids, and went with no mascara at all. Sort of a reaction against all the fake lashes we've been seeing on the red carpet," Thurman's makeup artist, TSurrat explained the following day after the red carpet event.

However, Daily Mail posted close-up pictures of the Pulp Fiction star showing that all she was wearing was foundation and a dab of red lipstick. The tabloid, on the other hand, argued that it could be the slick-style of her hair that had contributed to her unfamiliar look.

Some experts also conspire with the rumors saying that there is no other way that could contribute to the actress' new look but the effects of plastic surgery.

"Uma certainly looks like she's undergone a dramatic transformation and in my opinion, she's looking too overdone. The thing that strikes me most is that her eye area looks very different. It looks as though she's had a recent lower blepharoplasty treatment, also known as eye bag removal. She isn't wearing any eyeliner or mascara, probably in order to avoid infection from the new surgery," Mark Norfolk, Clinical Director at Transform Cosmetic Surgery said.

"The Slap" will have its premiere on Thursday at 8 p.m. at NBC with co-stars Peter Sarsgaard, Thandie Newton and Zachary Quinto, International Business Times reported.
