Caroline Wozniacki, the former world number one, can check swimsuit model off her list. The Danish tennis pro, who is currently ranked fifth in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), will appear in the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

"It's always been a dream of mine [to be in the Swimsuit Issue]," Wozniacki, 24, told For the Win reported by USA Today. "I went to the offices of Sports Illustrated quite a few months ago and threw myself out there. 'If you need a model or want one, I'm here.' It must have made a pretty good impression."

"We always like to have an athletic component in the book," MJ Day, the assistant managing editor at SI, said reported by the New York Daily News. "We're thrilled to (have Caroline) included. She's so beautiful and so successful in her sport . . . the perfect (intersection) where beauty meet athleticism."

For the spread, Wozniacki traveled to Captiva Island on the Gulf Coast of Florida to shoot with photographer Walter looss Jr. last fall.

"Walter, the photographer, was unbelievable. He was so quick," Wozniacki said. "I changed into a new swimsuit really quickly and did 12 different suits. I loved every minute of it."

Wozniacki is not the first WTA player to pose for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Several active players on the tour, such as Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic have all been featured.

Wozniacki has been playing some of the best tennis in her career despite an early and disappointing loss in the second round of the Australian Open. Wozniacki had faced two-time Australian Open Champion, Victoria Azarenka and lost in straight sets. Despite being ranked one in the world for 67 weeks, Wozniacki has never won a grand slam.

The magazine just hit the newsstands this week.
