Val Kilmer shared with his fans that he was released from the hospital last Friday after going in for treatment for a possible tumor.

Kilmer was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center in LA on Jan. 26 after police responded to a 911 call at Kilmer's address.

On Sunday, the "Top Gun" star, 55, tweeted a smiling selfie taken on his way home from the hospital, writing: "This was taken last Friday when I was released from the hospital and on my way home. FREEDOM!!!!"

Friday's hospital stay came less than a week after the actor disclosed he'd been taken to the intensive care unit at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for a "complication" and had received x-rays.

Kilmer disputed reports he had a tumor via his personal Facebook page, writing: "Thank you for all your sweet support. But I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation. I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the ucla ICU."

The actor is said to have angered his family by neglecting recent health issues because of his Christian Science beliefs, according to TMZ. Followers believe sickness can only be treated by prayer.

"Friends have assisted who know my spiritual convictions and have been most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there's minimum gossip and silly talk," he said. "I am praying for a speedy return to the boards as they say. God bless you all and please don't worry."
