Chinese Teen Amputates Hand to Cure His Internet Addiction

When a Chinese teen chopped off his own hand in order to combat his addiction to the internet, it only points to the severity of the issue and the Internet addiction getting "epidemic"; in China. According to USA today, Xiao Wang cut his left hand off with a meat cleaver, and he took the drastic measure to end his addiction to internet. The teenager was rushed to the hospital. The horrific incident took place on a public bench where he cut his left arm at the wrist. He called a taxi that took him to the hospital. The surgeons at the local university hospital were able to reattach the hand that was recovered by the police, lying on the ground.

The mother of the 19-year-old was in shock, and she is reported as saying that he was a sensible and smart boy. She is still not able to accept what happened. It has not only happened out of the blue but is very shocking too. Although the hand has been reattached, the boy may not be able to regain a complete control over it. A teacher comments that the boy's addiction to Internet may have made him impulsive as DNA reports.

According to the official figures, about 14% of the China's youths are addicted to the Internet, and the numbers are estimated to be more than 24 million. There are already rehab centers running in China to help combat the addictions to internet. The addiction problem is not just limited to China, but there are several other countries that are grappling with the same issues. As MailOnline reports. Taiwan and Japan have addiction-fighting camps to help children who spend too much time on their computers. In china, the addiction is already seen as a clinical disorder and a very dangerous one for the young people. Japan is already dealing with a mysterious psychological issue, and it is about those young people who can't leave their houses because of their internet addictions.
