U.S. lawmakers have warned that the next target of the Islamic State will be cities in America and Western Europe.

The lawmakers, who did not offer any suggestion in dealing with the threat, asked President Obama to take action so as to prevent the Islamic State from attacking cities in the U.S.

"This is a group of people who are extraordinarily dangerous. And they'll kill with abandon," said Senator Dianne Feinstein, the California Democrat who leads the Senate intelligence panel, reported the Associated Press.

The leader of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Rogers, said that the Islamic State leaders were planning a stunning attack to step up their finance and also to recruit fighters.

"ISIL would like to have a Western-style attack to continue this notion that they are the leading jihadist group in the world," said Rogers, who is also the Representative from Michigan.

Both the lawmakers forewarned an attack on the U.S. and its European allies if the Islamic State was not dealt with.

Rogers pointed out that the threat could also come from Americans who got training from the Islamic State. He said the Americans who were trained by the militants could return to the U.S. using their passports, reports the AP.

The King of Saudi Arabia had warned two days ago that the Islamic State could target the U.S. and Europe if the world leaders did not respond to the threats from the group who were advancing in Syria.

"If neglected, I am certain that after a month they will reach Europe and, after another month, America," King Abdullah had said, according to Fox News.
