Sam Smith talks about being a pop star and being with pop stars as he waits for the results of this year's Grammys. being one of the nominees, he said that he wants to maintain 'soulfulness' in his music and wants to be keep in touch with stars whom he respected a lot, like Taylor Swift.

In an interview with GQ, the British singer aired his views as to how he wants to be different from other pop stars.

"You know, I want to be the biggest star in the world, but I also want to maintain the soulfulness. I don't want to lose my mind or my humor. I won't name names, but I will never act like some of the current pop stars have acted toward me. We can be friends, you know? We can. It's not a competition," he said.

Further, the Stay With Me singer openly admits that he admires Taylor Swift's way of keeping her 'soulfulness' amidst her fame in the industry.

"Taylor Swift is amazing. I sang with her in London once but didn't get to properly chill with her. Then, at the American Music Awards, I got to sit down with her and chat. She's a role model. I really respect her. And she manages to sell a lot of records and make a lot of people happy financially, but also to keep that soulfulness, that honesty."

Smith was also asked about his opinion on other relevant things like using dating saying that such apps strips the excitement and mystery of dating, Pop Crush reports.

"I made a statement recently about how Grindr and Tinder and those dating apps are just killing romance. People are losing the ability to just walk up to people in a bar and say hello. Sex is on tap, isn't it, with apps like that? It may work for some people, but I miss the mystery. I find it much more sexy when someone's fully dressed in a suit and you've got to work to undress them," he said.

Meanwhile, the Lonely Hour singer has recently responded to Howard Stern's bashing on Twitter when the latter made some foul comments about him saying he is 'fat' and 'ugly'.

PerezHilton said that the hitmaker maintained his cool after reading Stern's comments. "Can't believe what I've just read," he said.

Later on, he posted another Tweet saying, "Ignore."
