One of the most popular instant messaging service for smartphones WhatsApp can now be used via Google Chrome. The recently launched WhatsApp Web is a merely an extension of mobile app that will mirror your conversation to the browser, meaning that the data will remain on the phone.

The WhatsApp Web is live. All you need to do is open the page in Google Chrome and scan the QR code that has appeared on the browser and you are good to go. Scanning the QR Code pairs the web client and the WhatsApp on your smartphone. However, you need to have active data connection on your phone as well.

As of now, the web client will NOT work with iOS. "Unfortunately for now, we will not be able to provide web client to our iOS users due to Apple platform limitations," WhatsApp noted on its blog.

Before you use the web client to WhatsApp, make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp running on your smartphone.
