Audits are a welcome trend in the VPN industry as providers seek to validate their privacy promises, and PureVPN is the latest addition to the ranks of no-log VPN services.

The Hong Kong-based VPN provider amended its privacy policy a while ago to become GDPR compliant and zero-log. In the very first paragraph, it has been mentioned that:

"We DO NOT keep any record of your browsing activities, connection logs, records of the VPN IPs assigned to you, your original IPs, your connection time, the history of your browsing, the sites you visited, your outgoing traffic, the content or data you accessed, or the DNS queries generated by you."

As a part of their commitment to ensuring the privacy of its users, PureVPN recently hired the services of a leading US-based security auditor Altius IT to verify its no-log status.

Here's how it went:

PureVPN: The Latest to Get No-Log Certified!

The audit encompassed of the following components:

  1. Analyzing PureVPN to see that no logs were recorded with regards to outgoing traffic, connection logs, visited websites, assigned VPN IP, browsing history, users' originating IP address, connection time, DNS queries, and browsing activities.

  2. Checking PureVPN's network infrastructure documents, system log files, and system configurations to prove its no-log claims.

After the completion of the audit, Altius IT confirmed that no logs of any kind were found by stating:

"[We] did not find any evidence of system configurations and/or system/service log files that independently, or collectively, could lead to identifying a specific person and/or the person's activity when using the PureVPN service."

Q&A over PureVPN's Successful Audit

One of the top VPN reviewers BestVPN.co asked PureVPN a series of queries to learn more about the scope and extent of their audit.

The best thing we liked about this Q&A session was the VPN provider promised that similar steps would be taken in the near future to assure users of their privacy.

PureVPN said:

"This audit is part of a series of steps that we are taking to further cement our commitment to true privacy. Apart from being the first to comply with GDPR and having the most transparent Privacy Policy to date, PureVPN is the first and only provider to have a public paid bug bounty program (Bugcrowd.com/purevpn) where 90,000+ strong community of white hat hackers continuously test and strengthen our service. We strive day and night to deliver more and more value to millions of subscribers in over 120 countries who trust their security and privacy with us.

Our next move, that we are keeping close to the chest for now, will be equally exciting and Industry-first for our privacy conscious subscribers."
