"The Originals" Season 4 is already set to air this year. It is hinted that series showrunner Michael Narducci is leaving the show. This may mean that there will not be any further seasons to come.

According to a report, Narducci is leaving the series and if there is going to be a Season 5 for "The Originals," then he will not be part of production. Narducci is to leave Warner Bros. in order to finish a project with ABC.

Narducci has a two year contract with ABC Studios. Show's creator, Julie Plec shares that this is an opportunity for Narducci that the latter cannot miss. She expresses that Narducci has been a great partner.

Narducci has been working with Plec in 2011 where he started working in 'The Vampire Diaries.' He then moved working on "The Originals." It seems that Plec will work on her own once a fifth season will be added. However, there is no official information yet if there is to be a renewal for the series.

Mark Pedowitz, CW's president shares in a report that the renewal of The Originals for another season will depend on how the ratings will be. He notes that the renewal will be depending on the performance of "The Originals" Season 4.

Meanwhile, "The Originals" Season 4 will not be affected by Narducci's exit since the team has done filming. Plec is likely to move forward by herself if there will be a fifth season of the series. This will also be the frst time for Plec to work on her own, if it happens.

"The Originals" is a spin-off series from 'The Vampire Diaries.' The the latter is already in its final season. There are also hints that it may be the final season for "The Originals" since TVD is already ending. However, no official announcements have been made so it still remains to be seen.

"The Originals" Season 4 is set to air on March 17, 2017.
