Some reports have surfaced that Disney Studios was not pleased with the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" ending to the extent that it has ordered "extensive reboots". "Rogue One" is the first standalone movie set in Star Wars universe since the beginning of time. However, despite these, the film paved it success with a very huge opening weekend.

Now, director Gareth Edwards has opened up about what changed the ending. SPOILER ALERT: The following paragraphs contain spoilers of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"

With Disney not being content with the ending, a lot of people assumed Edwards' realization of "Rogue One" was too bleak and that the corporate overlords wanted a family-friendlier film. Edwards apparently thought the same thing. In fact, it sounds like the opposite was true, according to Popular Mechanics.

Edwards told Empire in a podcast that he too had assumed Disney would not simply allow him to kill off all the main characters, which is what actually happens in the finished film at the end of the Battle of Scarif. For Edwards and his team that was a proper narrative conclusion.

"We thought we weren't going to be allowed to but Kathy [Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm] and everyone at Disney was like 'Yeah it makes sense, I guess they have to because they're not in A New Hope.' And so from that point on we had the license. I kept waiting for someone to go, 'You know what? Could we just film an extra scene where we see Jyn and Cassian, they're okay and they're on another planet?' And it never came. No one ever gave us that note, so we got to do it."

The Hollywood Reporter made an investigation and interesting evidence was found. At the original teaser trailer for the movie that was released in April, another shot has been missing from the final version of "Rogue One". You can see at the 1:17 mark, there is a visually arresting glimpse at Orson Krennic seemingly walking on water towards scenes of destruction with dead Stormtroopers and smoldering ruins ahead of him, with it appearing to be twilight.
