Mark Zuckerberg has come up with a home assistant named Jarvis, which is running on AI technology. Interestingly, he uploaded few demonstration videos on the internet which he explains how the new functionality is going to help him in managing his home. The question is, whether it is similar to "Amazon Alexa" or it has something new to offer.

In the video, Zuckerberg shows how the new functionality works in controlling home devices. He gives the commands either by voice or by typing in the Jarvis interface and according to that various devices start working or stopping. When he types switch on and switch off the lights, it does so. Similarly, he sets the temperature in the thermostat by setting it in the user interface of the Jarvis which is set up in the mobile phone. He also plays music using the functionality. The initial looks show that the functionality works very cool and simple.

Interestingly, the name and idea of Jarvis are coming from Iron Man movies where the protagonist, Stark uses smart home controls enabled by the computer systems. It is disclosed as Zuckerberg will be personally coding for the project as a resolution like he did before on learning Chinese, reading two books in every month. He already confirmed that he loves coding. He is fascinated by the endless opportunities of Artificial Intelligence and wants to transform its applications to the good of humanity.

The new Jarvis from Zuckerberg can work with Amazon Echo and Google Home. With the initial looks, the Jarvis is just a primitive functionality like how Amazon Echo was when introduced in 2014. The main problem found with the system is it can't recognize many of the market terms and terminologies and right now looks to be working on few basic commands. Hence the system can't be compared with Amazon Echo right now.

The primitive Jarvis by Zuckerberg has miles to go before it can compete with similar systems in the market. However, since it is not introduced, Facebook will really work hard to make it very impactful considering all the major tech players are bidding on smart home devices. It is good for the consumers that they can get innovative home solutions for the tech majors with endless possibilities.
