Super Mario Run is probably the hottest mobile game app this season, as fans of the popular 80's revival game are a combination of baby boomers, millenials and everyone else in between.

Unfortunately, although the game is a hit, not everyone is quick to pay the $9.99 fee to unlock the whole game. It's also only available for the iOS as of now, so for Android users, you have to wait a bit longer to be able to experience Super Mario Run.

However, don't fret, here are a couple of underrated apps for both iOS and Android users, they're as fun, if not more fun than Super Mario Run and it won't cost you $9.99.

Robot Unicorn Attack 2

It's predecessor, Robot Unicorn Attack started out as an online PC game featured on the Adult Swim and Flashline Games website back in 2010. Then in 2013, mobile app versions for both iOS and Google Play have been released. It featured the 1994 song 'Always' by the band Erasure, and for many, me included, that was enough reason to download the app. The additive endless running game plus the 80's vibe song is guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours!

Robot Unicorn Attack 2 is free to download both for the iOS and Android, but the song 'Always', can be purchased on Robot Unicorn Attack 2 for only $0.99.

Rayman Adventures

Rayman Adventures is free to download for both iOS and Android. One thing that is worth noting about this game is it's amazing graphics. Just like the others on this list, Rayman Adventures will definitely provide you with hours of endless running, gliding and jumping fun, while completing missions at the same time.

Despicable Me: Minion Run

The Despicable Me 3 movie is slated to come out in June of next year, so it's a perfect time to reacquaint ourselves with the minions.

Minion Rush is an endless runner game featuring Gru's yellow adorable minions, free for download for both iOS and Android. Play through areas from the movies as well as discover secret locations and unlock different kinds of minions and get to know them all.

Fun Run Arena

If you're a bit competitive, then Fun Run Arena is worth checking out. It's an addictive game that allows you to play with other players, but you have to outrun and slow down your opponents with power ups to ensure that you end up as a winner after each run.

Punch Quest

If you feel like punching stuff, figuratively of course, then Punch Quest is the game for you. Punch your way through a myriad of creatures in the game such as ogres, bats, skeletons and a lot more. Here's the Super Mario Run video gameplay and compare them with the games mentioned above.
