The Japanese developer of Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima is leaving a few breadcrumbs for fans to follow about the meaning of his latest game, Death Stranding.

In an interview with Glixel, Kojima talked about his serendipitous collaboration with Low Roar, the Iceland based band behind the soundtrack for the game. Kojima further reveals what "Stranding" really means.

"One thing people were pointing out after the first teaser was released, was how the cover of the album 0 has string-like objects that seem to be hanging from top to bottom," Kojima tells Glixel. "They say these are the same mysterious strings as in the teaser. In Death Stranding, 'strand' stands for strings and connections, and I felt a mysterious connection to that song that I found in that CD shop in Reykjavík two years ago."

Low Roar's lead singer, Ryan Karazija has this to say: "It's funny, people are creating these - and I'm not going to see whether they're true or not - but creating these theories about some of our songs and how they connect with the game."

In related news, Kojima got on his Twitter account to tease fervent fans.

Along with the tweet is a Twitter poll with the following options: “DEATH STRANDING update, Top 10 films in 2016, The films featuring Mads, Concentrate making game.” Kojima deliberately puts Death Stranding in capital letters and has currently gathered 54% from 29,917 Twitter user votes. For now, we'll just have to wait for the next HideoTube update.

Watch out for Kojima's "Death Stranding" for the PCs and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
