The holidays are the strongest time for sales, what with a lot of people scrambling to get themselves or their loved ones new presents to enjoy this Christmas. A compilation of the bestselling games this holiday season has come out and it includes the newest Call of Duty Game, Infinite Warfare, and Pokemon Sun and Moon battling for the top spot.

The list of the top games is as follows:

- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

- Battlefield 1

- Pokemon Sun

- Pokemon Moon

- Titanfall 2

- NBA 2K17

- Madden NFL 17

- Watch Dogs 2

- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

- FIFA 17

Some would argue that Battlefield 1 should be the contender for top spot, but Game Fragger has pointed out that the combined sales of Pokemon Sun and Moon beat out the sales for both Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1.

Gamespot has also pointed out that games have seen a surprising drop in sales as compared to that of last year. November 2015 saw a $2.6 billion value on sales, but this year it has only grown up to $1.7 billion - that's a 24 percent drop.

The same site has also pointed out that this year saw a decline in the purchase of consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. The platform that is making a boom, however, is the Nintendo 3DS which saw a growth in sales of over 59 percent.

Nintendo seems to be riding high in a cloud right now. A lot of gamers are also looking forward to next year's release of the Nintendo Switch, a console-handheld hybrid which can players can hook up to a TV as well as take outdoors to play.

With titles like Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 set to come out in 2017, hopefully the gaming industry could get its fire back next year.
