'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 might be the show's last, but the story continues on. It is expected that the latter part of the show's eighth season will have the most exciting, satisfying and intense episodes ever.

Recently, News Everyday reported about Nina Dobrev's return to the show as her on-screen character gets resurrected from her slumber. This means Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will be reunited once more, much to the delight of the fans.

However, it was rumored that with Elena's return comes tragedy. In a recent interview with Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore), both actors admitted that they want their characters to just disappear.

According to reports, Somerhalder and Wesley truly believe that their on-screen characters do not deserve any happy ending after all the evil stuff they have done in their lifetime. The actors even went as far as saying it's just right for both characters to die in the end.

This has caused a lot of panic among fans, thinking this might be a hint of how the show will end. If this is the way it will go down, this means Elena's return would only bring more heartache for the fans and for Caroline (Candice King).

On the other hand, Nina Dobrev is not the only one rumored to return. Rumor has it that several major characters from the show might also make a comeback. Amongst these characters is Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino).

It is speculated that Lockwood's return might be related to the return of some of the show's iconic events such as the Miss Mystic Falls, Mystic Falls Carnival, and of course, the Founder's Day. On the other hand, actor Chris Wood might have hinted his return to the show.

Wood took to Twitter and posted about being sorry for not making it to Orlando. According to Wood, he had to change his schedule for another shoot. He also mentioned that this means good news. Could this mean the actor is shooting some new scenes as Kai Parker? If so, his return to The Vampire Diaries is indeed good news.

While news of Kai Parker's return might seem unusual, it can definitely be possible with a show like "The Vampire Diaries". The series return on air on January 13, 2017 on The CW network.
