On lookers in Shaftesbury Avenue London U.K. on Thursday evening, got a surprise look at Prince Harry and girlfriend Meghan Markle for the first time together in public.

They were dressed very casual and both had winter hats on. They were just strolling down the street with Prince Harry pointing at things and doing most of the talking. Markle was looking down most of the time and smiling.

They have been dating for a few months and this was the first time they have been pictured together.

They were out on a romantic date together. They went to see Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, at the Gielgud theatre in the London's West End.

It seems the couple won't be spending their first Christmas as a couple together. Markle is to stay for the week and head home just before Christmas and Prince Harry will spend Christmas with the Queen at the Sandringham estate.

Meghan Markle is a 35-year-old American actress who stars in the show Suits. Markle grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in communications. She has struggled with her identity since she was a young child. Last year she wrote on Elle,

"I wasn't black enough for the black roles and I wasn't white enough for the white ones," she wrote, "Leaving me somewhere in the middle as the ethnic chameleon who couldn't book a job."

She is a United Nations advocate for women and has worked for the Clean water campaign.

Prince Harry has been very protective of his new girlfriend as she has had racist attacks online, by trolls and she's been stalked by the media and paparazzi. Prince Harry warned against this in November, in a rare statement by the Kensington Palace.

"His girlfriend Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public -- the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments," the statement was issued by Prince Harry's communications secretary through the palace Twitter account.

The couple however, looks very strong and happy. They haven't let the trolls and bullies of the world stop them from being together.
