"Madam Secretary" Season 3 will come back for its tenth episode and winter break finale on Sunday. The upcoming episode will put a character's life in the balance while the result of the U.S. presidential election gets compromised.

In the latest "Madam Secretary" episode, Russell Jackson (Željko Ivanek) finally succumbed to the pressures of the U.S. presidential race and collapsed. There are strong indications that he's had a heart attack, which is a result of overworking and refusing to take care of himself, according to CarterMatt.

Of course, just because Russell is incapacitated doesn't mean that the presidential race will get halted for his benefit. This setback can be a problem for the Dalton campaign, what with people like Sam Evans (J.C. Mackenzie) willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) won't get reelected.

In this weekend's "Madam Secretary" Season 3 episode titled "The Race," the "possible Israel-Iran war" will threaten the House's looming vote on the U.S. presidential election, SpoilerTV reported. Episode eight showcased a tie between candidates Dalton, Evans, and Fred Reynolds (Michael Potts).

In the midst of it all, Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) tries to "bring the two reluctant countries to the negotiation table in an effort to broker a peace between them." The House's vote for president has a Jan. 6 deadline, so a decision will be met soon, TV Fanatic noted.

Episode 10 of "Madam Secretary" will once again feature Emelyn Daly as Henry's (Tim Daly) niece, Sarah. The episode airs on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 9:30 PM, ET/9 PM, PT on CBS. It remains to be seen whether or not Russell will recuperate from his ailment, or the character's troubles will serve as a graceful exit for Ivanek. Regardless, Russell's medical condition is a prime source for more drama and excitement for the "Madam Secretary" storyline.

Details about the eleventh episode of "Madam Secretary" Season 3 were also revealed by SpoilerTV. Episode 11 titled "Gift Horse" will showcase Evans threatening legal action against Ohio for putting Dalton's name on the election ballot.

Elizabeth, meanwhile, will stir controversy when she considers returning Mongolia's gift horse. She believes other Asian countries will be offended if she accepts the present. Also, things will take an interesting turn during Stevie's (Wallis Currie-Wood) first day as Russell's intern.

Who do you think will win the presidency on "Madam Secretary?" Is this the end for Russell? Share your thoughts below!
