Abortion Has Little Effect On Women’s Mental Health [Study]

Women are always discouraged from having abortions. These women are made aware that such an activity may lead to emotional trauma. But a study reveals that abortions have little effect on women's mental health.

A rigorous study was conducted on thousand women in the United States who had undergone through abortion continuously for five years. It was concluded that these women did not witness problems like depression, low self-esteem, anxiety or dissatisfaction with life.

Abortion Debate Is Intensifying In The United States

The procedure of women health both physical and mental is a matter of effective argument in the recent years. The government is thinking of regulations and restrictions on such matters, The New York Times reports. The study which was published recently proves that psychological symptoms increase only in women who sort abortions but they are not allowed to have procedure due to some clinical reasons. But the distress was short-lived in both cases, whether they delivered the baby or went for the abortion somewhere else.

Women Can Practice Their Right To Terminate A Pregnancy

As reported on Teen Vogue pregnant women should not fear psychological trauma after abortion. The study conducted for five years on those women who had undergone an abortion concluded that no symptoms were found of depression or low self-esteem in these women. In fact, those women who are denied abortion develop the symptoms of depression, low health anxiety and so forth. Over the five years, all symptoms came to a standstill in both the categories of women. Their self-esteem started improving.

Abortion is banned for women who are more than twenty weeks pregnant. Women may suffer from trauma if they will not be able to control their reproductive health and future.

It should be left to the pregnant women to decide whether she wants the give birth or she is interested in abortion. Medical help should not be denied in such matters.
