Yahoo is alarmed with the massive breach of account attacked by hackers. The security breach disclosed by Yahoo last Wednesday that at least one billion accounts are affected in the global scale.

In August of 2013, an unauthorized third party ruptured data including names, password, and email address. The company is set to notify all yahoo account holders with instruction to request their credentials most especially their passwords.

Marissa Mayers Could Not Save Yahoo

Several activists are asking Yahoo to fire Marissa Mayers because of the many events of a breach in the past. In fact, Verizon had the interest to purchase Yahoo and paid 4.83 Billion ending Mayer's term as Yahoo CEO.

"Long-term product strategy" is where Mayer focused and stayed positive despite the troubles Yahoo is facing. She stayed in helping and making the transition smooth. However, it did not guarantee that Yahoo Executives will play a role with the new management.

The Yahoo Breach Investigation

Aside from the internal investigation Yahoo is conducting, they also have external forensic investigation team dealing with the current situation they are facing. They found out that there is an existing forged cookie that allows cyber theft to obtain the vital information of the account.

Bob Lord, Yahoo Chief Information Security Officer said, "Based on the ongoing investigation, we believe an unauthorized third party accessed our proprietary code to learn how to forge cookies." Yahoo is taking all the measures to invalidate the encrypted path and cookies that identify the account's preference.

Final Statement From Yahoo

Other companies with similar business types are having the same issue as what Yahoo is experiencing. The situation, however, Yahoo got the most hack. They are dealing with it accordingly. In a statement, "These types of breaches are occurring more and more frequently, and companies like Yahoo must be taking certain precautions to secure user accounts."
