"Harry Potter" fans would be so happy if they will be able to grab a chance of having a book signed by the world famous writer herself, J.K. Rowling. But how about owning a book written by Rowling herself? Yes, that is possible. But you will need to spend almost half a million to have it.

A copy of a "Harry Potter" spinoff book which is handwritten personally by famous author J.K. Rowling has been placed in an auction and is worth almost $470,000, as reported by Celebuzz. The book, which is entitled "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," was placed in an auction on December 13 in London, England.

According to The Huffington Post, the book copy was owned by the publisher who first signed Rowling and her "Harry Potter" books, Barry Cunningham. This copy of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" is just one of the six copies Rowling gave to people who were part of the HP book series. Aside from being handwritted by the world renowned author herself, the book also has original illustrations.

Potterheads sure already know about "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," but in case you have forgotten or in case you are not a super fan of the "Harry Potter" series, the book was handed down to Hermoine Granger by Albus Dumbledore after he died in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." The book was a first edition, and is a collection of wizarding fairy tales. One of the tales in the book was about three brothers who met Death and received three items which protected them from death.

The book, as described by BBC, is covered in brown Moroccan leather with silver ornaments and stones placed on the corners, the book's lock and on the eyes of the skull in the middle of the cover.

J.K. Rowling reportedly has seven copies of handwritten books which were intended to be sold in auctions. The seventh book was reportedly sold for £1.95 million in 2007. The proceeds of the book will go to the author's charity, Lumos.
