"NCIS" is one of the most successful shows on CBS. However, after gracing the small screens for 13 years there are rumors that it is doomed. According to recent reports, Michael Weatherly is no longer returning as Mark Harmon will be leaving the show.

According to HNGN, Michael Weatherly who played Detective Anthony DiNozzo is called to return to boost "NCIS" declining rating. Some blame his departure in Season 14 as among the factors that affect the show's rating and viewership.

For those hoping to see Detective DiNozzo again, bad news because the actor reportedly canceled his return after learning that his co-star Mark Harmon is leaving the show. Harmon who plays NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs needs to focus on his health due to a serious illness per his doctor's advice.

If reports are true that Harmon and Weatherly are no longer joining the TV series, then indeed "NCIS" is doomed. Fans believe that Harmon is their last straw in the TV series and without him, it is impossible to continue the show.

However, you should not feel too bad as this report is still unconfirmed. This will remain a speculation until CBS confirms that Harmon is indeed taking his departure and that Weatherly has canceled his return.

At the time, "NCIS" Season 14 has just aired its last episode for 2016. The last episode titled "The Tie That Binds" featured Emily Fornell visiting her father. On the other hand, agent Gibbs helped his roommate with some physical therapy, TV Line reported. Inquisitr also added that the last episode gave the viewer glimpse of Ducky's past.

"NCIS" Season 14 will be taking a break and will resume on Jan. 3, 2017.
