2016 is the year where a lot of good video games have been released. This is also the year where developers opted more for console releases.

Most of the developers opted to develop more for the consoles this year. Some of the games like Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, and Inside are all on the consoles. Some like Overwatch and Firewatch all have PC ports and console ports at the same time. While 2016 have some of the most disappointing games, this is also the year for some of the most anticipated video games. Below are some of 2016's best video games released.

Overwatch (XBox One, Playstation 4, PC). Overwatch is one of the most popular video games released in 2016. This massive multiplayer shooting game developed by Blizzard earned overwhelmingly positive reviews from players. It even earned the Game of the Year award in The Games Award 2016 earlier this month! Patterned after Team Fortress 2, Overwatch hosts a diverse set of heroes, each with unique abilities that aid teammates in the battlefield.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (Playstation 4). Uncharted 4 is without a doubt a great game released this year. The game earned a lot of positive feedback from fans of the Uncharted series. Like any other Uncharted game, Uncharted 4 still follows Nathan Drake's story, set after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Nathan Drake reunites with his brother and partner in order to search for the location of a lost treasure. Uncharted 4 was praised for its improved gameplay, controls, and a story that makes players hooked to this game. It is also one of the best selling games for the Playstation 4.

The Last Guardian (Playstation 4). After nearly a decade of development, Square Enix finally released The Last Guardian earlier this month. The Last Guardian tells the story of a boy and a giant creature Trico and their adventures together. Its puzzles and environment lured players to check the game. Trico is also a factor to this success, seeing a huge half-dog half-bird follow players around provided a cute factor for players to enjoy. There's only the issue of wonky controls and poor camera angles of the game but it doesn't hinder players much.

Forza Horizon 3 (XBox One, PC). Forza Horizon 3 is Microsoft's driving simulation game that was released this year. It earned good feedback due to its breath-taking scenic views. It became the series most impressive title because of its accurate portrayal of the Australian scenescapes.

Pokemon Go (iOS, Android). Pokemon Go's popularity is very much well-known all over the world. This augmented-reality mobile game lets players catch their favorite Pokemon in real locations. This game is well-received that Niantic announced that they'll be adding the second generation of Pokemon in the game. Because of their popularity, Pokemon Go earned the Best Mobile Game award in The Game Awards 2016.

Stardew Valley (PC). Stardew Valley is an indie farming simulator created by ConcernedApe. The game tackles how farming works as well as building relationship with the people around town; something similar to the Harvest Moon series. There's also the option of going into caves and gather resources by defeating monsters that lurk inside. Despite having mechanics to players who may have experienced playing Harvest Moon games, Stardew Valley offers more beyond of the usual farming life in town. Now, Stardew Valley has plans to invade the consoles next year.

Firewatch (PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One). Firewatch is a first-person adventure game where Henry escapes a fire in Wyoming. He explores the odd woods with his radio operator Delilah and forms a relationship along the way. What's great about Firewatch is how the narrative is executed, plunging players into hours of exploration.

Inside (PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One). Inside is a puzzle platformer adventure game created by the creators of Limbo. The game still sports a monochromatic feel similar with Limbo. The challenging puzzles can draw in players and provide a better game feel than Limbo.
