Golden Globe Awards 2017 News & Updates: 'The Night Of', 'Lion' & 'La La Land' Among The Nominated Movies

“Golden Globe Awards” will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon on January 8 on NBC. On December 12, 2016, were announced the Nominations for the 74th “Golden Globes Awards” by Don Cheadle, Laura Dern, and Anna Kendrick. Among other nominated movies were “The Night Of”, “Lion”, and “La La Land”.

“La La Land” pulled in seven nominations including best picture, best director and best actress Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone according to a CNN report. For best movie drama was nominated “Moonlight”, “Hacksaw Ridge”, “Lion” and “Manchester By The Sea”. “Moonlight” brings a story about a young, black gay man pulled six nominations including best director Barry Jenkins. “Westworld” pulled 14 nominations. Remi Malek, Bob Odenkirk, and Matthew Rhys found themselves among best actor for a TV series. “Moana”, “Sing” and “Zootopia” were nominated for the best animated feature film. One winner has already been announced, Meryl Streep will receive Cecil B. DeMille Award for her amazing impact in the film industry.

According to Time, last year’s winner of the Cecil B. DeMille Award was Denzel Washington. For best director nominees were Damien Chazelle (La La Land), Tom Ford (Nocturnal Animals), Mel Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) and Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester By The Sea). Nominees for best foreign film were “Divines”, “Elle”, “Neruda”, “The Salesman” and “Toni Erdmann”. For best television drama series, the nominees were “The Crown”, “Game Of Thrones”, “Stranger Things“, “This Is Us” and “Westworld”.

Mia (Emma Stone), who is an aspiring actress serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), jazz musician who scrapes by playing at cocktail parties, they both are forced to face a decision which will fray the fabric of their love affair while all of their dreams on which they worked so hard will threaten to tear them apart, Collider reports. This musical drama which contains a lot of comic moments brought fans to tears in just two hours. The stars of the show have done a great job, no wonder the movie is nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
