The Nintendo Switch console is developed as some kind of a hybrid tossed between being a portable gaming system and a home console. The NX was launched to replace Nintendo's unpopular mobile gaming device - the Wii U. Gaming fans are curious whether this hybrid feature is a plus or minus, performance-wise.

To address the curiosity of the gaming community, Laura Kate Dale of LetsPlayVideoGames tweeted that the Nintendo Switch's performance can be boosted by its dock. Dale revealed the role of the dock in allowing the NX to run at higher clock rate. This results in Full HDTV 1080p resolution.

Dale stressed that the Nintendo Switch dock is a performance booster and no extra hardware is needed. She added that the NX's USB-C feature allows users to switch the video and power at the same time. A fan is added to keep the console cool while running at maximum clock rate.

Dale noted that the dock is very affordable. Gamers could have multiple docks and install them anywhere at their houses as long as there is an available TV to connect to.

"When the Nintendo Switch system is connected to the dock by USB-C, the system's components will run at a higher clock speed to facilitate 1080p resolutions on the TV. Both video and power will be transferred over USB-C when docked," says Laura. "Plugging the system into the dock will also activate a small additional fan to help with cooling when run at that higher clock speed. This fan is in the rear of the dock, and there is a gap in the back of the dock to allow the system's inbuilt fans to vent when docked," she explains.

Dale has emerged as one of the primary sources of information for Switch-related rumors, leaks, and speculations. The revelations on her site earned the ire of Japanese gaming giant Nintendo which blacklisted her from attending the console's presentation in January 2017.
