His next book "The Winds of Winter," made many fans wait for a very long time and there are speculations as to what will happen in the book. George R.R. Martin has been active and has been updating about the progress of the book. Recently, he said that the new book is going to be the darkest one yet.

George R.R. Martin hinted that "The Winds of Winter" will be the darkest one yet when it gets released. He is a notorious writer who does not think twice in decapitating famous and well-loved characters. "The Winds of Winter" is supposed to contain chapters that are darker than everything he has ever written, reported Culteress. Since the first installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire" last 1996, one of the most prominent themes in the series was that "Winter is Coming." After a wait of about 20 years, the Winter will finally come in "The Winds of Winter."

The Winter is symbolic of a fictional space in time when almost everything dies, and the world is encapsulated with cold, ice and darkness. Many of the favorite characters will see themselves in extremely dark situations "The Winds of Winter."

The author has already admitted that the ending of "The Winds of Winter" will definitely not please everyone. Many major characters will die and we are already aware of the fact that Martin does not like fairytale endings, reported Time.

It is a known fact that the main plot of "The Winds of Winter" will focus on the Starks, the Lannisters, and the Targaryens. Along with this, Varys and Littlefinger will be at their personal best and will be competing. It is expected that Varys will win because of his immense knowledge. It is expected that "The Winds of Winter" to be released in March 2017.
