Scouring for mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition can prove to be difficult. While Nintendo previously assured fans that it will keep up with the console's unpredicted high demand before Christmas, others are already looking for alternatives to the mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition. Here are some great alternatives for a retro-gaming experience.

Mega Drive Classic Game Console is a good alternative to mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition. With 80 built-in games such as "Sonic The Hedgehog," "Mortal Kombat," and "Golden Axe," players will never run out games to play. It is a two-player console with a pair of wireless controllers. Retro Freak Premium is another good alternative to mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition which allows users to play any classic console game. While it does not support PlayStation, it can be split into two for consoles such as Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Super Famicom, The Famicom, Sega Genesis, and Sega Mega Drive.

Other mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition alternatives include Virtual Console and Nintendo 2DS which allows users to purchase Virtual Console games in the Nintendo 2DS shop. Another is the New Nintendo 3DS which has SNES games including "Super Metroid" and "Super Mario World" for $8 per game. A great but expensive alternative is Nintendo Wii U which may be phased out soon. The console has plenty of retro games that can be downloaded via its Virtual Console library. Nintendo NES Remix released a few years prior has a collection of mini-games from several NES games. For another retro-gaming console, Sega Genesis is a great alternative as well.

While the retro-gaming experience is within everyone's reach, the devices above prove to be the great alternative to mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition. But the good thing is that Nintendo promised to make more to keep up with the soaring demands of the retro gaming console. For now, here are a list of retailers with available mini Nintendo NES Classic Edition units.
