Reports about an upcoming "Pokémon GO" update have been exciting for many players. Some users found hints of new 100 Generation 2 Pokémon as well as gender and shiny variants of the monsters. The update doesn't end there, though. Read on below for what "Pokémon GO" players should expect from Niantic's big update in the coming days and weeks.

Players over at The Silph Road have data mined the code of the new "Pokémon GO" update 0.49.1/1.19.1. They found hints of Gen 2 Pokémon after stumbling upon 100 new sound files for the cries of each monster in the game.

In "Pokémon GO," monsters make their own unique sound when they cry out. As of late, there are 151 sound files in the game but data miners recently found 251 sounds after analyzing the new code.

This means only one thing: 100 new cries = 100 new Pokémon. And what those could be other than the highly anticipated Gen 2 Pokémon? With Niantic setting these sounds up, it's safe to assume that "Pokémon GO" players will be able to get their hands on Gen 2 monsters any day now.

"Pokémon GO" data miners also found hints of gender and shiny variants within the game's code. Nidoran is currently the only Pokémon in the game with a gender assigned to it, but the data discovered suggests a bigger application of gender in "Pokémon GO."

Aside from gendered variants, data miners spotted hints of shiny Pokémon already seen in major Pokémon games. Shiny Pokémon are extremely rare and recolored versions of the monsters.

There's a strong possibility that costumes are about to be introduced in "Pokémon GO" as well, Forbes reported. The introduction would likely begin in the Christmas event to get players into the holiday spirit.

Costumes in "Pokémon GO" mean Santa hats adorning Pokémon's heads, or shades shielding their eyes. It's odd that Niantic decided to introduce costumes just now, given that cosmetics are an effective way to earn more money from users and to make their experience more exciting.

The recent "Pokémon GO" patch notes now allow trainers to transfer multiple Pokémon at one go to Professor Willow. Also, Pokémon type has been added to the Gym battle approach and screen, while the total Candy count and miles walked with a Buddy Pokémon are now displayed on the Buddy information screen.

Details about Niantic's major "Pokémon GO" update will be unveiled on Dec. 12. Are you excited for what's coming to the game? Share your thoughts below!
