Sony has announced that it will make the PlayStation games available for smartphones. As of now, the firm has decided to bring the games to iOS and Android devices to counter the Nintendo's "Pokémon GO". It is reported that 6 games will be made available by next April as the first batch of games.

Interestingly, many of the PlayStation games including Everybody's Golf, Arc the Lad, Wild Arms, What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord? are receiving the first transformation. A number of games that are getting ready for the release in PlayStation, will also make debut in iOS and Android smartphones. Some of them are based on Doko Demo Issho, Boku no Natsuyasumi, Parappa the Rapper etc.

It should be noted that Sony has announced its plans to make a separate gaming studio called ForwardWorks, for developing PlayStation games into mobile games, earlier. Interestingly, ForwardWorks are bringing these to iOS and Android phones including upcoming PlayStation games. Considering the fact that mobile platform is getting popular year after year, especially considering the success of mobile games like Pokémon GO and Clash of Clans, Sony can't ignore it.

Sony has not made any comments about other mobile platforms apart from iOS and Android smartphones in case of PlayStation games integration. It should be noted more than 98 percent of market share goes to iOS and Android smartphones and hence Sony may not be interested in integrating to other mobile platforms. It should be noted that other platforms including Windows have a very negligible presence in the total smartphone market.

Sony couldn't look back since it introduced PlayStation 4 and it got record sales in the second quarter of this financial year. However, it should be thinking about the success hoarding by mobile games like Pokémon GO, considering it a wider and far-reaching platform. It should also be thinking to make innovation in mobile gaming in future, but for the time being, Sony should be on iOS and Android phones with PlayStation Games to make the transformation easy.
