Apple is completely redesigning MacBook Air for 2015. The radically new design of MacBook Air is getting rid of full-sized USB ports, MagSafe connectors, SD card slots in favor of even thinner body.

According to a report published by 9to5 Mac, the 12-inch MacBook Air will have a high resolution display but the body will be considerably smaller than the current 13-inch version.

The keyboard in the new MacBook sits edge-to-edge across the width of the laptop - similar to the keyboards of 12-inch PowerBook introduced by Steve Jobs, 10 years ago. The keys on the keyboard has also been slightly narrowed down, so that they look closer to each other.

Reportedly, the function keys across the keyboard has also been redesigned and simplified along with the arrow key array. The trackpad has also been changed. It is of the same width but it does not have that clicking sound like heard on current and earlier MacBooks.

Apple is also getting rid of all other types of connector and using simply USB Type-C connector on the left and a headphone jack on the right. The USB Type-C port is remarkably faster than USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The connector also has the ability to replace Apple's Thunderbolt Display port, as it can also drive displays. Like Lightning connectors on iPads and iPhones, the connector equipped in alleged 12-inch MacBook Air is reversible.

The new MacBook Air is so thin that internally, Apple employees refer it as "MacBook Stealth."

If latest rumors are to be believed, the 12-inch MacBook Air will ship in mid-2015. However, earlier rumors had suggested that the 12-inch MacBook Air is already nearing production.
