‘Google Play’ Introduces 4K Movies Through The Platform, Know How To Use It And The Supporting Devices

Google Play started selling 4K movies through the platform and the latest information shows that it has a collection of 125 movies. But, not all the devices are supported to play the movies and there are few restrictions on the use of the service. The movie lovers would be interested to know how to use the Google Play 4K movie service.

Google came with up a blog update that Google Play has started selling 4K resolution movies and initially it is starting with U.S. and Canada. The purchase of the movies can be done in smartphones or using the web and watch it on selected devices. The devices that work Google Play 4K movies are Chromecast Ultra, Xiaomi Mi Box 3 and Sony Bravia Android TV.

The price of the 4K movies is not yet announced, but however, it is expected to come in two prices and one for streaming and another for purchase. Some of the titles that are announced include 10 Cloverfield Lane, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, The Amazing Spider-Man, The 5th Element, The Lego Movie, Batman vs. Superman, Everest etc. will be streamed in VP9 video coding format.

The new Chromecast Ultra buyers will receive a complimentary offer of Google Play 4K movies. The offer includes getting 75 percent off on movie rentals, HBO for 3 months in UHD resolution and also the option get watch Captain Phillips or Ghostbusters for free. Additionally, Google Daydream VR headsets are getting access to Google Play library by the introduction of an app to help to see the titles, TV shows etc. and watching it using the VR headset.

The Google Play 4K movies were expected for a long time considering the Amazon Video is already providing 4K movie streaming. To make the Google Play 4K movies a success, the firm has to make the movie library bigger. It should also make attractive offers to the viewers considering the fact that still many people are not finding 4K is a real worth comparing to Full HD in watching movies.
