Paul was actually offered by another team for a maximum four-year-contract worth $79.7 million but didn't accept the offer. According to NBA officials, Clippers hired their new coach, Doc Rivers, who is also the senior vice president of basketball operations, as a representative for the team to meet up with Paul, to discuss the deal but was unable to meet up with him since Paul joined the BET awards earlier Sunday.
