Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has picked up reading as his personal challenge for this year where he will read one book every other week. Through reading he plans to learn more about different cultures, beliefs and technologies.

"My challenge for 2015 is to read a new book every other week -- with an emphasis on learning about different cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies," Zuckerberg wrote on his page.

"I'm excited for my reading challenge. I've found reading books very intellectually fulfilling. Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today. I'm looking forward to shifting more of my media diet towards reading books."

Mark Zuckerberg created a page called "A Year of Books," where he will post updates on the reading challenge. The page has already got more than 119,047 likes.

Zuckerberg has picked up Moises Naim's "The End of Power: From Boardrooms to Battlefields and Churches to States, Why Being In Charge Isn't What It Used to Be," as his first book for the program. The book went out of stock Sunday on Amazon.

"Our first book of the year will be The End of Power by Moisés Naím. It's a book that explores how the world is shifting to give individual people more power that was traditionally only held by large governments, militaries and other organizations. The trend towards giving people more power is one I believe in deeply, and I'm looking forward to reading this book and exploring this in more detail," Zuckerberg added.

Mark Zuckerberg's favorite book is Virgil's "The Aeneid" from which he has quoted several times in the various interviews. As his page suggests, Zuckerberg has read several books including Jay-Z's "Decoded," and Walter Isaacson's biography of Albert Einstein.
