‘World Chess Championship 2016’ Sees 'Magnus Carlsen' Retain The Title; What Strategy Made Him Win Against ‘Sergey Karjakin’?

Finally, what expected happened, and Magnus Carlsen who has a better performance record in quick movements took the "World Chess Championship 2016" title. Sergey Karjakin though fought well throughout the series fell in Tiebreaker. But, he deserves a great appreciation as he fought well considering the results.

On his 26th birthday, Magnus Carlsen was determined to win the match and he executed it in the board with his quick movements. The 3-week long World Chess Championship 2016 has got a perfect climax at the end of the series of 16 games which includes 12 series games and 4 tiebreaker rapid chess games. The initial 12 games drawn as both Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin won a game each and rest of the games drawn.

 The tiebreaker of World Chess Championship 2016 resulted as the first two rapid chess games drawn and the remaining two went to Magnus Carlsen's pocket and hence the title. Both Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin played an offensive game but the champion took risks that paid off, in the end, making him win the match.

The third game in the tiebreaker saw Magnus Carlsen sacrificing a pawn in his 30th move to add pressure to the King of Sergey Karjakin. Also, the fourth game saw a similar sacrifice in case of Queen from the winner which gave him instant win in 50th move. Another important factor which gave an upper hand for the Magnus Carlsen is his experience in rapid chess and record, which is much better that Sergey Karjakin and that ultimately helped him winning World Chess Championship 2016.

The 4th time champion made use of the experience in big titles in World Chess Championship 2016, whereas Sergey Karjakin felt pressured during the 3rd and 4th game of the tiebreaker and that reflected in the results. It can be expected that Karjakin would be a strong contender in the upcoming championships with better strategies and experience.People are expecting more the coming years will see fierce battles between Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin for titles in the coming years.
