"Digimon Adventure tri." six-part anime film's official website for the series revealed an outline of the story of "Digimon Adventure tri. Sōshitsu" (Loss), the fourth film in the series, on Friday. SPOILERS ALERT: The plot summary below contains spoilers for the first three films.

In a summary by Anime News Network, Tai (Taichi) and the others left behind a distressed Meiko and head to the Digital World following Meicoomon's rampage and the Reboot. But the partner Digimon that they have reunited with have lost their memories. They once again try to forge new connections, but only Biyomon is wary, telling her partner Sora that she does not know anything about the past. While Sora normally thinks of others even before herself, she now has distrust in her heart. Tai and Matt (Yamato) cannot find the words to help Sora as she stands heartbroken.

Meicoomon who is tearful appears and disappears again. It is a mystery why she still has retention of the memories of the past and is now searching for Meiko. Upon seeing Meicoomon, the kids decided to journey through the Digital World to save Meicoomon, but this was made impossible as a man with the Dark Masters at his command stands in their way.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Nishijima receives a notice that Himekawa has disappeared. When he investigates, he learns that she has had a hidden goal behind all her actions thus far.

On the same date it was opened it Japan, Crunchyroll began streaming "Digimon Adventure tri. Kokuhaku" (Confession), the third film. The film opened in Japan for three weeks on September 24 and became available for paid streaming in Japan on the same day. The film earned 120 million yen (about US$1.15 million) and sold 78,452 tickets in its three-week run in Japan.

Meanwhile, "Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 1: Reunion" earned an estimated 230 million yen (US$2.3 million) after opening last November while "Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 2: Determination" earned 160 million yen (US$1.6 million) after opening on March 12.

"Digimon Adventure" celebrates its 15th anniversary (the first entry in the series) with this project that will have a total of six films. An English dub that features new and returning cast members of the first film had a theatrical release in the United States on September 15. The dub screenings received an extended run in the U.S. starting on September 29.

"Digimon Adventure tri. Sōshitsu" will open in Japan on February 25, according to Anime! Anime!.
