Red Is The New Color: Apple Introduces Red Products, Apps For World AIDS Day

Apple has turned red. The company has introduced products and limited-edition items in the App Store in support of World AIDS Day this Thursday.

RED has been in a 10-year partnership with Apple and iOS users are aware that the company supports the RED revolution every year. This is their way of involving  its consumers in their campaign on the awareness and fight against AIDS, as reported by The Verge.

This year, Apple aims to be part of helping the world reach an "AIDS-free generation," the news site reported, by ending pediatric AIDS visional by 2020. In line with this, Apple announced that the company will be taking part in the World AIDS Day by changing its color for two days.

Washington Post also reported that the "AIDS-free generation" campaign's goal is to end cases where mothers transmit AIDS to their newborn child. The news site also reported that Apple said the company has been thinking of ways on how to help the customers in taking part in the campaign and they have made it easier for the consumers to do so by using their products and applications.

In line with this, Apple has also worked with application and game developers to raise money for The Global Fund not just in achieving an "AIDS-free generation," but to also stop tuberculosis and malaria.

In participation to the campaign, according to Financial Post, an estimated 400 Apple Stores are expected to change the logo of their storefronts into red. The Apple website, as well as the App Store will also change its color to red. In addition to this, special products will also be sold as part of the RED line like smart battery cases and iPhone cases.

Around 20 games will also have in-app purchases which 100 percent of the proceeds will go to The Global Fund. Aside from this, Apple will also donate $1 for every purchase made through Apple Pay.

Currently, RED has already raised a total of $360 million and reports revealed that more than 43 percent of the proceeds amounting to $120 million have been raised by Apple.
