A plane crash in Kentucky killed four people late Friday, but a seven-year-old girl miraculously survived the accident and wandered off the wreckage in search of help, state police confirmed.

According to Reuters, the place where the plane crashed is a forest area in Lyon County, which is about 115 miles northwest of Nashville, officials of the Kentucky State Police said.

The little girl who survived the crash, is believed to have had walked about in the heavily wooded area in search of help. While looking for help, she came across a house where she narrated her ordeal to the resident. The resident called authorities at 911, saying that a 7-year-old girl "had walked to his home reporting that she had been involved in a plane crash," a Facebook statement posted by the state police.

The statement further read:"The juvenile was in distress and was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries".

A rescue team was sent to the crash spot at once. It took the rescue crew members a couple of hours to scour through the heavily wooded area and find the aircraft. Within some time, they confirmed that the pilot and three other passengers were killed.

It is not immediately clear if the juvenile was a family member of the people onboard the plane or just an acquaintance.

The Associated Press cited Kathleen Bergen of the General Aviation Administration as saying air-traffic controllers lost contact with a Piper PA-34 as it was flying over Marshall County in southwest of the state. Reports suggest that the pilot had reported problems in the aircraft's engine.
