Liberal Democrat MP David Ward, who was suspended last years for having strongly criticized Israel, will be facing disciplinary action once again after tweeting: "The big question is - If I lived in Gaza would I fire a rocket? - probably yes."

United Kingdom's Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg was under immense pressure to expel the MP after he issued a partial apology for suggesting he would fire rockets into Israel, in his tweet, if he lived in Gaza, The Times reports.

The twitter comment hurt the sentiments and angered the Jews in Britain and overseas after Ward tweeted, adding: "Ich bin ein #palestinian - the West must make up its mind - which side is it on?"

Ward represents Bradford's predominantly Muslim districts and has several times expressed support for the Palestinians publically. In a recent parliamentary debate on the Gaza crisis, he condemned the Israeli way of response in stopping the Hamas rocket fire, The Jerusalem Post reports.

However, clearing his position, Ward late Wednesday issued a statement that read: "I utterly condemn the violence on both sides in Israel and Gaza... I condemn the actions of Hamas, and my comments were not in support of firing rockets into Israel. If they gave the opposite impression, I apologise. However, while I defend the right of Israel to exist and defend itself, I will continue to speak out for the rights of the Palestinian people who are facing untold suffering. More must be done by the world community to end this humanitarian crisis and protect the families living in Gaza. I can understand their plight and desperation."

The Liberal Democrats had previously "condemned" the MP's remarks, but after he issued the apology they said that they will take a decision "in due course if further disciplinary action should be taken," Haaretz reports.
