Popular Studio Sunrise recently announced a brand new project for the popular anime Code Geass. The project comes with a brand new sequel and compilation films.

Sunrise announced in their Code Geass 10th Anniversary event that the popular mecha anime  will be getting a new sequel. A compilation of the original episodes of Code Geass is also inbound in the form of compilation films.

The sequel is titled "Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch" (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection). The story takes place years after the events of the "Zero Requiem (events of the original anime)." The event also teased the return of some notable characters such as Kallen and Suzaku Kururugi. No further information has been said about the new sequel or what kind of animation form will it be adopting. Fans have been speculating Lelouch status since the end of the anime so there is a possibility that the upcoming sequel will reveal Lelouch's whereabouts since the end of the Zero Requiem events.

The event also revealed compilation films which re-tells the story of the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. The three-part compilation films will show the events of the first two season of the anime. The films will contain new scenes that are not in the original series. According to Anime News Network, some fans received invitations to the 10th-anniversary event. Information has been shared by those who received these invitations, stating that there may be a hint to a new Code Geass project.

The original anime titled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion first aired in Japan in 2006. A second season called Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 followed after the first season two years after in 2008. Code Geass tells the story of an exiled prince named Lelouch Lamperouge who gained a mysterious "power of the kings" from a mysterious woman. Dubbed as "the power of absolute obedience", Lelouch  uses  this power to get revenge to his former kingdom under the name Zero. A spin-off of the anime series titled Code Geass: Akito the Exiled debuted in 2012. The spin-off is set between the events of the two anime series.
