Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel)comes back to Kategatt in the in the second part of "Vikings" Season 4. He looks older and his fate is going to be revealed in the upcoming episodes.
Ragnar's return is going to be depicted in Vikings Season 4 Part 2. He comes back from battle for many years and looks older. He gets to train his son Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) to be the next king and follow his footsteps.
The upcoming episode has a time jump for several years when Ragnar comes home. His sons are grown and there has got to be an effort from Ragnar to gain back the trust from his people upon his return in "Vikings" Season 4 Part 2.
Ragnar will look up to his son Ivar the Boneless as to be the right one to be the next king. In fact, he mentors Ivar on everything that needs to be prepared to be the king of Kategatt in "Vikings" Season 4 Part 2.
Ivar the Boneless is known to have all the qualities for a king that Ragnar is looking for. "Vikings" Season 4 Part 2 is also hinted to be bloodier as there will be a fight regarding the throne. Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) for her part also fights for the throne which she believes is rightfully hers.
Meanwhile, a new character is to join "Vikings" Season 4 Part 2, Astrid (Jesefin Asplund) is speculated to be the new love interest of Lagertha in the upcoming episode. It seems that Lagertha has gone through enough and chose a woman this time to be a part of her life.
It can be recalled that Lagertha left Ragnar when she found out about Princess Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) carrying Ragnar's child. Along the way, Lagertha met Earl Sigvard (Morten Suurballe) and they got married. Earl Sigvard is the King of Scandinavia that time. They separated since the relationship was already abusive.
The failed relationship with men built up trust issues with Lagertha and may be the reason why she settles for Astrid in "Vikings" Season 4 Part 2.
