With Pokemon Sun and Moon's phenomenal hype for fans, one player managed to beat the story of the game using only one Magikarp.

A Japanese twitter user @Nakano_Official reported that he managed to beat the game with using only one Magikarp. Magikarp proved to be one of the most useless Pokemon. The Pokemon is famous for its move called Splash, which does absolutely nothing. A Magikarp who doesn't evolve into a Gyarados can only learn move sets that aren't quite as useful as its evolutionary form. According to Bulbapedia, a Magikarp can only learn Tackle, Splash and Flail by leveling up and cannot learn any Technical or Hidden Moves.

Based on @Nakano_Official, his Magikarp managed to beat Sun and Moon's story with only using the move, Flail. Flail is a move that inflicts greater damage to enemies when the user's health is low. Since the user claimed he only used one Magikarp, the Pokemon should be equipped with an Everstone to prevent it from evolving. The Everstone is a special stone in the Pokemon games that prevents evolution when held by a Pokemon. Magikarps are known evolve to Gyarados at Level 20.

Of course, many people would claim that such accomplishment is fake. The primary reason for that is a normal-type move such as Flail would ever have an effect to any Pokemon with a Ghost typing. Various strategies surfaced the web after hearing of this accomplishment, all sharing thoughts on how can a normal-type move damage ghost-type Pokemon.

One strategy that @Nakano_Official confirmed using is using up all of the PP (power points) of Flail. When a Pokemon uses up all of its attacks, it uses Struggle, a move that damages its opponents as well as itself. Struggle proved to have damage over Ghost-types so stalling enough until knocking out the enemy Pokemon with Struggle is one of the ways to overcome Ghost-types with a Normal-type move.

Other strategies such as making the opponent use up all their Pokemon's PP and use Struggle on themselves is also an effective move, albeit it takes longer to accomplish it. Using various potions and PP recovery items, players can stall up to the point where the enemy Pokemon used up all of its PP in ALL of its move set, thus forcing it to use the self-damaging Struggle.

Pokemon Sun and Moon came out last November 18 in North America and November 23 in Europe.
