Black Friday is synonymous with riots and stampedes when it comes to shopping at physical malls on the said day. People in the US just go crazy over the low prices that they wake up early and huddle in front of stores to wait for the doors to open. When the doors finally open, all hell breaks loose.

Today, US shoppers are getting smarter when it comes to overcoming Black Friday stampedes and riots. It involves not going to physical stores at all. By using tablets and phones, Black Friday shopping is a breeze. Not quite getting the real deals compared to going to the mall but at least there are no cuts and bruises.

Consumers in the US reportedly spent a whopping $1.2 billion for Black Friday on mobile purchases only. This is approximately an increase of 33 percent from last year's mobile purchase revenue. On top of that, people who spent online (including computers this time) reached a breathtaking record of $3.34 billion or a 22% jump from last year.

Tamar Gaffney, director and principal analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, said that Black Friday has just beaten Cyber Monday's record when it comes to online shopping, the latter is supposedly the year's biggest online shopping day. Gaffney also added that shoppers are still purchasing during the early morning of Small Business Saturday. This clearly states that sales happening earlier get the most revenue and shoppers just can't wait until Monday to spend.

Black Friday's bestselling items that are also on Cyber Monday are iPads, 4K TVs, Xbox's, and more electronic gadgets. This year seems to be hot on video game items, too. Though the numbers are astonishing, US shoppers can't beat what is currently held in a record by China. Check out China's Singles Day Sale and find out the huge difference.
