Xbox One head Phil Spencer has hinted that Microsoft and Nintendo might work again to bring "Super Mario" to Xbox platforms. Previously, Microsoft gave Nintendo Minecraft on Wii U and gaming fans are hoping that the NES Mini maker will one day return the favor.

AusGamers interviewed Spencer who praised Nintendo's strongest-party games, which he would love to include on Xbox. Spencer said "Nintendo has the strongest first-party of anybody.

"They're just fantastic and the memories that they have instilled in so many of us, who've played their games and had those delightful experiences, having those on Xbox would be great," he added.

This development is a cause for excitement in the gaming community which is speculating that the "Super Mario" games can soon be played on Xbox One, as reported in Game & Guide.

"It's been a great partnership on Minecraft," Spencer said. "... I mean if that paid dividends down the road that lead to something else, that would be fantastic. ... I'd love to see Mario on Xbox." Xbox's master and overlord later added that Nintendo has by far the most stabilized first-party of anybody.

In 2015, Spencer teased gaming fans on a possible Nintendo-Microsoft collaboration. The Xbox exec responded to a fan on Twitter that Microsoft was open to the idea of adding "Banjo" in the "Super Mario Bros." roster.

Microsoft is in the thick of preparations for the launch of its next console - the Xbox One Scorpio, which will be released sometime in 2017. There is a possibility that a "Super Mario" will appear on Scorpio, should the partnership comes into fruition.

Meanwhile, Nintendo congratulated Microsoft on the original Xbox's 15-year anniversary on Twitter. It remains to be seen if Spencer's statement will lead to more concrete plans.
